Hello Family and Friends-
Sister Hoffman just asked me the above question while we were emailing. So, it had to be the subject line.
Well, I am finally better from my cold. I still have a little cough and a sometimes I need to blow my nose but I feel fantastic!
This week has been really great. My Korean is getting tons better and it feels great! We have such cute natives and they are so wonderful!!!!!!
Creed left this week. We had a wonderful Sunday together. We had about 3 hours together which was superb! We had dinner together, then we just hung out afterward. We shared our testimonies in our languages and took pictures. Definitely black mail worthy pictures. Don’t you worry Derek. Creed might send them to you. Afterward we went to the devotional together. It was just so nice being able to spend time with him. I cried a little. I am going to miss him but I know this is the time for us to be on missions and we are exactly where Heavenly Father wants us to be. We took one last photo together. Then He had to run off and catch his bus. The funny thing is when he hugged me, he hugged me soo hard my belt broke. A saint of an Elder fixed it for me and it works perfectly well. We call him the Wizard because he can fix ANYTHING! No joke, we don’t know how he does it but he is magical. When I asked permission to set up a meeting with my brother our zone president told me that I shouldn’t hide the fact that siblings can meet but I shouldn’t boast about it and show off what I was allowed to do. So that is what can happen at the MTC if you ever want to see your sibling before you go. He told me that we were an unusual case but he was happy to give me the permission to be with him.
We have had really good speakers this week that just spoke all the right words. I don’t have much time to right it all down but I know that Heavenly Father is always there for anyone. He will bless you immensely as long as you work hard and you follow his commandments. He is so good.
One of the biggest things that I have done this week to promote my faith was by doing the Attribute Activity in the PMG (the missionary Preach My Gospel manual). I suggest EVERYONE do that. Please do it. It will bless your life. It is a good measurement of where you stand. I decided to just start with the first attribute of Christ, which was faith. Wow, I learned so much and wrote pages and pages of things that I felt and was thinking throughout my study. Please do it. It will open your eyes of what you need to work on and will strengthen your faith, or any attribute of Christ you want to work on. It is somewhat personal but I know my thoughts will help others if I share them. This is what I wrote in my journal: “It looks like I need to develop my faith more. Especially about believing it can produce miracles. I believe i can bring miracles but i need to believe i=that i can create miracles, through Heavenly Father of course, in my life according to my faith. I know I need to be a little more confident in myself to be a vessel of the Lord. I know I have really good faith, I trust in the Lord and know he will help me. Ether 12:6 is really powerful. I know that I won’t see the miracle until after the trial of my faith. Hebrews 11:1 “…faith is the substance (assurance) of things hoped for…” Faith is assuring. I know faith can make me whole, or anyone whole for that matter. Faith and doubt/fear cannot embody your mind at one time. As long as I have only faith on my mind, I can’t doubt or fear. From now until the end of my life I want to say I had enough faith to say i fought the good fight, i have finished my course, i have kept the faith. I will strive to make sure I will work for faith. Faith without works is dead. By works is faith made perfect. I need more confidence in myself to have full confidence in the Lord. Faith comes from righteousness. If i am exactly obedient, there is no room for error. I know that perfect faith comes from perfect knowledge. I need to gain more knowledge and strive to be more like Jesus. If I strive to be the best I can, strive to be as obedient as I can, my faith will grow. 2 Nephi 25: 29 As long as I believe/worship Christ with all my might, mind and strength my faith will grow. I can obtain my faith through Christ. Jesus Christ works through the hearts of the people. By the power of the Holy Ghost can our faith be strengthened. Knowledge, trust, diligence, and enduring to the end will help our faith grow (Mosiah 4:6). The Atonement works miracles. The Atonement is essential to everything. Belief in ALL of God, who he is and what he is strengthens our faith (Mosiah 4:9). We can’t comprehend everything that he has for us, but in due time we will know. We just need to trust in him.
I had many more thoughts but I don’t have enough time to write it all down.
FYI mom. We have the missionary bags and the XX came as well. I gave the vitamins to creed and creed gave me my bag on sunday. Thank you soooooooooo much mom!!! i Love the bag and was sooooo excited to use it. It looks awesome and is such a cool bag. It has so many nooks and crannys for everything!! i just love it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are the best!
Sorry I will write what my schedule is like next week. I will write to you all the rest of the things you wanted to know. I love you all!
Sadly, this monday Sister Hoffman, Bagley, Glauser, and a lot of other missionaries are leaving this monday. Which is sad and sort of depressing. Apparently, I get to have a say of who my new companion will be. I will keep you up to date!!!
Trust in the LORD! He is always there for you and will help you with everything that you need. JOSHUA 1:9. Remember that promise everyday.
I LOVE YOU ALL. YOU ARE ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pray for you all. Let me know if there is anything else you need me to pray about because prayers from missionaries are powerful. I am not being self rightious haha. In general prayers from missionaries are powerful.
Goodbye! Walk in faith this week! Figure out what you can learn better this week. Seriously, do the PMG Attribute Activity and then study what you need to work on. You will be blessed!
Love, Orme Chamay
Hello Family and Friends-
Well, I have been in the MTC for about a month now! ahhhh! It’s crazy. It doesn’t even seem real.
So, this last sunday I got called as the Sister Training leader. My district totally called it, and it happened. What is even funnier, is that Elder Watson is now one of the Zone leaders and Elder Butterfield is our District Leader. Haha. The same companionship all received leadership positions on the same day. That was fun. I know it is going to bless my life as I learn to become a better leader and following the example of the Lord.
We got our natives this week!!!! There are 13 total!!!! It is amazing! They are sooo cute, adorable, wonderful, and happy people. They are so great!
For Relief Society Sister Wixom from the general primary presidency shared a powerful message. When her and her husband were mission presidents an elder came and told her a story. He was confronted by a very ferocious dog one day and all he had between him and the dog was a paperback Book of Mormon. So, he decided to stick it out in front of him. The dog bit into it. When he opened his scriptures the teeth marks ended at the scripture: 2 Nephi 22:2. It talks about how Heavenly Father will always watch us and take care of us. It is really neat. Wow, what a story. Heavenly Father is wonderful! He will protect us. She also said that some of us may think we are not ready, or that we are not qualified, not good enough, not pretty enough, or talented enough. She said stop it. The Lord will not let us fail if we trust in him. This is soooo true! The Lord will help you no matter what!
Also Gerald Causse, 1st Counselor of the Presiding Bishopric, came on tuesday. He had some really good points as well.
-When the Lord gives you a calling, follow it.
-See people with the eyes of Christ.
These two things work really well together because as we follow the Lord we are able to see people with the eyes of Christ.
Well, this week has been eventful. I am keeping a positive attitude but I am super sick right now. The Elders in my district gave me a blessing. Watson anointed, and Kahng gave me the blessing. It was really powerful. They all have so much faith and I love them all soooooo much!!! Kahng is possibly leaving this Monday, which is super sad!!! I wish he could stay longer. Our district keeps getting smaller. Thank goodness everyone else is staying until the end.
Well, I love you all!
The gospel is true!!! I am so excited to share it with others. I am sad Creed is leaving this monday but I know he is supposed to be in Argentina at this time. He is going to bless so many lives!!!!!!!!
We get to see each other on sunday. I am excited about that. 🙂

This week has been fantastic! I can’t tell you how much I love the MTC.
We have 33 new missionaries this week! And then 12 more come next week. 11 left this week for Korea :(. It is sad but i am happy for them. It is soooo great! Our branch is growing!
So, Butterfield, Watson, and I were teaching our investigator about the atonement this week and it went so well. We decided to focus more on the spirit and listening to it to see what we need to tell our investigator so she could feel the spirit. Wow, it was powerful. The spirit was so strong that I started crying really hard. I was giving the baptismal invite and could not give it without crying. The spirit confirmed to me that what I was saying was true and I am so excited to share this message to real investigators. The gospel is such a blessing. As I gave the baptismal invitation, I felt the power of our message and also the power of baptism. It is going to make so many people happy. Our teacher told me that the lesson was amazing and we did such a good job! She is not allowed to give us feedback at all. I am glad she was able to confirm that we were at least doing something right. The gospel is true!!!! I am so happy that we get to share to the people of Korea!
On Sunday we had the privilege of listening to President Lindahl. He is the District President. He made me so pumped and excited to be a missionary. We have so much power as we are called to be disciples of Christ. We have so much power as we use our faith to help others, heal others, and guide others to Christ. What an amazing calling to devote ourselves completely to the Lord. What a privilege. He had some missionaries have visions of angels. What the what?? What a confirmation. He also shared with me, personally, that the sisters had the power of faith. He said that he couldn’t say this over the pulpit. He said that when the Elders didn’t have enough faith to heal someone, the sisters would be sent to heal people and they would be healed completely whole because of their faith. He said sisters have so much faith and can produce a lot of spiritual power because of it. Wow, what an amazing story. What amazing missionaries he had! They know what’s up.
I recommend everyone listen to the devotional given by Elder Bednar about “Character of Christ”. It is amazing!!!!! Wow, he is just amazing. I could listen to him all day and forever and be happy. Of course the other apostles/presidents are awesome and wonderful as well. He is just on my mind a lot lately.
The reason he has been on my mind is because he gave us another visit on Tuesday!! So we have been able to listen to him live twice! Once for xmas, and this last Tuesday. For xmas he did a questionnaire and he did the same on tuesday. He wanted to answer the other questions as well. So the thoughts are jumbled. Some great points from the devotional were:
-Faith and belief are two different things. Faith is active, belief is passive.
-Fear is the absence of action.
-Every missionary deserves a good companion.
-Heavenly Father gives us hard things because he trusts us enough to get out of them, he is preparing us for the eternities.
-The priesthood is not male. Men were just given the responsibility.
-The gift of tongues is a spiritual gift. You will only receive a spiritual gift if God trusts you to use it for others, you will never receive it if you want it so you can have it, it will come through you as you bless others.
He said that if others pray for you to have the gift of tongues we will receive it. I know you all pray for Creed and I already but if you could pray for us to have the gift of tongues that would be wonderful. As we receive this gift we can speak to others in a way that will help them to receive the gospel. You are all the best!!!
I love you all tons!! I hope you enjoyed the pics!

Hello Family and Friends!!!
So, Thursdays are now my pdays. My schedule has changed. Creed’s are now Saturdays, just an fyi.
This week has just been wonderful! I love being a missionary and learning to be a better missionary. My Korean is better! Thank goodness. I still can’t believe I know so much already though. It is a blessing.
I was reading in the Bible Dictionary about Faith. Wow, it is amazing. Go read it now! I wrote in my journal my thoughts. This is what I wrote “Wow, faith is an amazing thing. Faith is so powerful. I was reading in the bible dictionary about faith. Here are some highlights. “The Lord has revealed himself and his perfect character, possessing himself and his perfect character, possessing in their fullness all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, and every other needful thing so as to enable the mind of man to place confidence in him without reservation….Faith is a principle of action and of power…since true faith always moves its possessor to some kind of physical and mental action: it carries an assurance of the fulfillment of the things hoped for. A lack of faith leads one to despair, which comes because of iniquity…although faith is a gift, it must be cultured and sought after…”. Faith is so powerful. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ can help us with our faith. As we strive to do the best we can Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will help with the rest. We are capable to have the power of God. Faith can sometimes be cut down or obliterated but as long as we keep going we can pick ourselves back up again. It reminds me of the analogy of the tree and the woodsman…The tree keeps getting cut down, grows some more, then cut down again. The tree asks the woodsman why do you keep cutting me down? The woodsmen says “I am cutting you down to make you stronger. I am cutting you down because I love you. Because of me cutting you down you become strong and more firm about who you are and what you can become.” Sometimes things happen. Sometimes we are cut down. Sometimes we feel small. Sometimes we feel alone. But heavenly Father knows us and loves us. He gives us challenges so we can grow. He makes our weak things become strong. He knows we can handle it. He knows we can overcome. He never gives us anything that we can’t overcome. That is why God is so good. He knows us. As we do this we become more like him and come closer to him. “Fear not, neither be faint-hearted” (Isaiah 7:4).
I love the gospel and know it is true with all my heart! Heavenly Father is there for you and he loves you dearly. He wants all of us to return to him.
What is even more awesome is after that we had a mission conference on Sunday since it was fast Sunday. Brother and Sister Johnson spoke. Brother Johnson’s mission president was President Groberg (The Other Side of Heaven story). They had some really good points that just enhanced my love of faith.
– Our finest hour could follow our darkest hour. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.
– God will not allow you to fail as long as you remain obedient.
– Whom the Lord calls, he qualifies, he will not allow you to fail.
They were amazing!!! Such great inspiration from these two.
So, of course language study cannot move forward without another funny. During our lesson with an investigator we were talking about prophets. I meant to share the scripture Amos 3:7 which is a nice simple little scripture about prophets. Well, instead of that one I shared Amos 2:7. Read it. It is hilarious! She was so confused and we didn’t know until after. We just responded like “yeah prophets are cool, we don’t know what you are asking.” Haha. Our class died laughing when we found out. I am so happy these things are happening in the MTC not in the field. But I feel like it is inevitable in the field to happen. I am glad that I can bring so much joy to my district with my funnies.
Today we went to the temple for the first time in a while. It was amazing!!!!! I love the temple and felt the spirit so strongly. It was so wonderful to be back in the temple. I missed it so much. Not being able to go for a while was terrible. I know I will have to get used to it, since I will only ever go to the temple, besides in the mtc, on my mission once at the end of my mission. I am so grateful that the temple is so close and that we get to go once a week! It is the best.
Well, I love you tons!! I am going to send pics in a few minutes. Hopefully, we will see. If not, definitely next week for sure.
Love, Orme Chamay
p.s. thank you for all of your letters!! they are the greatest and I get so pumped when I get them! I love reading about everyone’s lives.
Hello Family and Friends!
Yep, I said “I am grateful that my companions are dead” in a prayer with our investigator. Hahah. Our investigator becomes our teacher and we asked her if there was anything funny that we had said to her and she told us the only one was me and that is what I said. Well, I am grateful that my companions are alive and well.
1. Me and my I’m-grateful-she’s-alive companion, Sister Hoffman.
2. Some of the girls from my district
3. Elder Watson is in the middle, then Elder Butterfeild and I
I can’t tell you all enough how much I love the MTC. I am learning so much. It is teaching me to become a better missionary but also a hand of the Lord. The spirit here is so strong and strengthens my testimony everyday. I am so grateful to be here!
I just want to say I am so grateful for the Lord and what he has done for me. He has been watching over me every step of the way. I have been so blessed to be here at this time. My companion, district, zone strengthen my testimony and we all strive to be better people. I am reminded daily that I am so blessed to be on a mission. God is so good and knows exactly what we need. Our zone loves spending time with each other and we all want to be friends, which is fantastic! It really brings warm feelings to the zone when we all have one purpose and want to help each other with that purpose.
So, I learned that Enthusiasm comes from the greek word which is theos which means God. When we have enthusiasm it means we have God within us! So live life with ENTHUSIASM. It makes life so much better when we have God on our side.
Our Branch Presidencies theme for our zone is W.I.N. What’s Important Now. As we remember this we will realize every time that we need to make every moment count. I am striving to do just that as I make every moment meaningful.
I am so grateful that the MTC has the spirit everywhere. It is so much more meaningful to teach by the spirit when you can feel the spirit constantly. As we know the spirit, we will know his mission.
I am so grateful for the Elders in my district. Seriously, they are the most kind-hearted, sweetest, and wonderful human beings. They have such strong testimonies and share it constantly and show it through their actions. I am so blessed. They teach me everyday. I love being with them. They ask me questions about things like I am their older sister. Sometimes they even do call me the older sister of our district family. We have so much fun and learn so much together. Even though they are so young, they know so much already and they amaze me. They are really ready and they want to learn. I am so thankful that we don’t have any problems with each other. We love each other so much! It is amazing that we all can love each other so much and know each other so well in just a few short weeks. I constantly thank my Heavenly Father for their examples and strength.
Throughout the soon to be 3 WEEKS at the MTC I have learned more and more about the reason why missionary work and being a missionary is so important. The mission is really about inviting others to come unto Christ by teaching and helping them, the investigators/others, with the steps towards faith and true conversion. We are their guides but they have to do most of the work in their testimony building. We can’t build their testimony for them. They will be leaning on the missionaries testimony rather then their own if we do that. It is so vital that you have the spirit with you, always. It doesn’t matter if you can’t speak everything that you want to say in Korean, as long as the spirit is there with you and you are sincere. The Lord will fill any gap or any barrier that you have as long as you try your hardest. It is not about being a perfect missionary, it is about having perfect faith that the Lord will help and guide you as you try (your hardest) to teach your investigators. Also, if you don’t have anything else to say or don’t understand what the investigator says just bear your testimony and the people you are teaching will be touched and will know that you are being sincere. The Lord is always there for you as long as you stay faithful and endure. Making connections with your investigator helps them feel your love and sincerity. It is so important to teach by the spirit. Just loving those around you will show them that you truly care about them and are teaching them because we truly care about their well-being.
I can’t believe I have been here almost 3 weeks! It is crazy!
Thank you to everyone for all of your love, your letters, pictures, everything! I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed me with such great family, and friends.
Chonin Saranghameeda! I love you! I wasn’t able to open up the korean keyboard but next time I will type in korean.
Love, Orme Chamay
