Week 44- MERRY CHRISTMAS with a Baptism and more

Hello Dearest Family and Friends-
It is Christmas week and I cannot believe it is already here. I doesn’t look like Christmas but it feels like Christmas. I can feel the spirit of the Savior during this time and feel the true meaning of Christmas which of course cannot ever be wrapped or displayed but it is the feeling you have during this time that makes it the most special.
I was not even in my two new areas a week and we had a baptism!  Who knew having a baptism would be so easy? ^^ Just kidding. The other sisters worked hard and I just had the privilege of showing up. Our 91-year-old investigator got baptized on saturday and was given the holy ghost on sunday. What an amazing and special feeling was there. She had to get baptized twice because her foot floated up. When she got in the water she wasn’t sure what to do and was just spinning in circles. We finally got her in the right position though and it was amazing. The spirit was sooo strong and she was so happy. Sister Walker said she has never seen her so happy. She was so cute too and of course still is. Being 91 years old always makes you so cute. I will send pictures of it. I am grateful for her wonderful and sweet spirit. I was able to see my little trainee as well! Her new companion was companions with Sister Walker so we got to spend some time with each other. Which was fun.
Sister Jo Jong Yor our investigator that got baptized. She is sooo cute!

Managing two areas is super interesting. Fun and sometimes a little stressful. But I LOVE IT! I serve in Daeshin and Keajeong, which is in South Busan city. We are trying to turn this place around because it requires a lot of work. We have two branches to work with and also two branch presidencies that demand different or the same things from us but it is all good. I am so excited and i feel privileged to help these two areas grow and prosper. There is so much to do and so much to improve! I am so excited for this opportunity. I cannot express it. The branches are basically just as small as Miryang but the city is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy bigger. Deashin was one of the first branches in Korea. How neat is that? Unfortunately it is now only 8 members, Keajeong has about 20-30 members. 35 people came yesterday! which is wonderful! Since we have to manage two areas we have to also spend time in both areas equally and also balance out two sets of elders. So we are constantly working with them and having to switch back and forth between the areas. I know this is exactly where I am supposed to be right now. All companionships in Deashin and Keajeong changed one person out. One is our district leader and the other is Elder Suttner who I was serving with in Miryang. I really feel like the 3 of us were moved into these areas for a big reason and I am excited to see how the Lord wants to use us here.
This last week was also mine and Elder Orme’s year mark of being a missionary. I think it is so neat that me and my little brother are able to serve together even though we are on the opposite sides of the world. What a blessing missionary work is. I am so grateful everyday for this wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord in Korea. I have been reflecting a lot on what I have done and who I have become over this last year. I know I have changed soooo much.  I am still me just a better and slightly more polished version of myself. I know that Heavenly Father has a lot more in store for me. I know that I can still improve and I can still grow and He knows exactly what to do to help me with that. He is the greatest and knows everything that we need to improve. Sometimes it is hard but they are the most rewarding things I have learned and I will remember them forever. I am grateful also for my little brother Elder Orme because he is an example to me. He also just turned 21 on sunday! I cannot believe how fast time is flying. I love you so much! Keep up the hard work!
I am not really sure what else to say since I will be skyping my family in a few days. But what I do know is that the gospel is true! I love this time of year because we are able to focus on the Savior more and our families. The Savior is everything to me. I am so grateful that he suffered for us so we could be able to live with our Heavenly Father again. But also I am grateful that we can feel peace, comfort, clean, and hope through the atonement.
I hope we all can focus on the true meaning of Christ and that is the SAVIOR!
I love you all! For some I will hear from you next week but my family I will see you in a few days!!!! ^^
Love Sister Orme

I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!! Week 7<–WHAT???

I seriously LOVE being a missionary. It can be soo hard but it is so rewarding at the same time. I have come to realize that we must not focus on everything at once, that is where you get too overwhelmed. I have learned to look at things little by little. Sometimes you want to baptize the whole world but you can only do that as you save one soul at a time. That is how Jesus Christ works. He saves a soul one by one. Yesterday was a momentous occasion for 울산 (Ulsan). We had TWO fantastic people take steps into the waters of baptism. One was our investigator 오지윤 (Ohjeeyoon) and the Elders investigator 백송민 (Peksongmeen) He is 17 or 18! Wow, the craziest but most amazing day of our life! The spirit was bursting at this baptism. I am soooooo happy! I still can’t believe it either. I can’t believe that they are baptized. It is amazing! I am sending pictures! This week was definietly crazy but it all worked out! Heavenly Father has been blessing us sooooooooooooooooo much!!!

So, I am answering mom’s questions and I thought everyone would want to know.
Korea is a very beautiful place but can also be dirty. Which is fine. I LOVE KOREA! the streets, the shops and places remind me of russia. Old grandmas sell food on the streets and there are a lot of street markets.

Everytime we pass koreans they always say: SOOO BEAUTIFUL! hahah in korean of course. it is hilarious and we love it. I am going to miss it so much when I leave korea. I am going to miss the grandmas calling us beautiful and the korean people freaking out when they see us all the time. haha.
There are a not a lot of foreigners here but when there are we try to avoid them. hahaha. for some reason they weird us out. most of time we have had really bad feelings when we are with them so we try to avoid them because they are always scary….well not all the time but sometimes we wouldn’t have feelings around them. but we say hi to them and that is that, they are not super interested in us. one time a girl and a guy came up to us and we talked to them for two seconds. the boy seemed interested in what we were talking about but once the girl found out we were missionaries she said bye. haha.
Me and my group that left from the MTC. We met at training meeting.

koreans like hello kitty and cute things. i love it! hahah sometimes you will see men wearing and using really girly things but it is completely normal here. i love it! hahah
i have not felt anyones enmity to japan or of any place. the young koreans actually really like the japanese style. a lot of chinese and japanese people come here.
Jordan is doing great! he and his mom didn’t progress super well this week but we will bring them back on track.
We walk, ride buses or take the occasional taxi to go places. I love it!!! you get to see the city and you get to meet people. i am so grateful we don’t ride bikes or have a car so we can be able to contact people.

I cannot stay away from the night shades because in every single meal basically the only thing that doesn’t have it, is a seaweed salad, the rice or sometimes they have cabbage sald. Heavenly Father has been blessing me with staying healthy from it. When we are at home we eat very well and keep away from it. It is very rude to not eat the food they give you so I eat it. I have been totally fine! ^^ I get tired but we are so busy that only by the end of the day does it really help me. I pray all the time to the Lord about it. I am praying for Creed too. Pray for it creed!
Yes, the competition is really bad. Kids stay in school all day and waaaay late into the night. sometimes they dn’t get home until 11:30 or 12 at night. apparantly the suicide rate is really high here becuase there is so much competition. i hope it gets better. It is because korea is soooo small but so many people live here. We are normally feeding ourselves. But sometimes we will have a 식사 (Shiksa-Food appointment) with members. It is always awesome! We have been fed a lot which is actually surprising cause normally they don’t feed you as much. But they always feed us tons of food and it is hard becuase you want to please them so you have to eat a ton. we basically don’t eat at all besides at that time. I am happy they are not too frequent.
I am soooooo happy for Brian! Please tell him that I am so happy for him. I know his life is going to be very blessed as he pursues the gospel. There is nothing that is better or more perfect. Heavenly Father loves him and I love him too. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. I am so happy that he is taking these steps. These are the most important but I know as he does so his life will be 10 times better. It will bless his life forever. You are the best St. Brian!!!!!!
I am sooo excited for JONNY!!!! Congratulations on your mission call!!! That is awesome!! I will write you! ^^
Look who I found? this is going to be on a members fridge. Cousin Jonny!

It is completely safe to send stuff! No problems like Creed. Sorry Creed!
Ok, so everyone is asking about my birthday. It was really great!!! So far we have been fed 3 cakes. Hahaha and people keep wanting to do things for me. It kind of felt like any other day but it was still fun! Mom, thank you for the necklace and the bracelet!!! I love them both. I have been wearing them to! Love you!! So all in all it was great!
I love love love missionary work. It is seriously the most greatest thing ever!!! Wow, i love it a lot. I am so happy and I am doing super well. It has not been hard at all for me to adjust to missionary life. Heavenly Father is really blessing me and my companion. We feel his love and blessings everyday. It is all about obedience, reading your scriptures, praying, going to church, and keeping the commandments. Through those things Heavenly Father blesses us immenseley.
LOVE YOU ALLLLL!!!!!

Week 6!! Still a week of Miracles

Hello Family and Friends!!!!

Time is zipping by!

So we have one more week and Ohjeeyoon will be baptized!! Sorry I would put the korean name but I am using a different computer. It is harder to type. We had a lesson on sunday about baptism, the holy ghost, the word of wisdom and the law of chastity. It went SUPER well. Her dad went to the hospital suddenly last week and is super sick, instead of turning away from the Lord she turned to the Lord. She prayed super hard the whole time. She is so ready and prepared to be baptized. We are super excited for her and can’t wait! She is absolutely amazing. And she got engaged!!! She is super excited about that as well. Her boyfriend was super kind and helpful to her and her father especially when he was really sick. He is catholic but I think eventually his heart will soften to the gospel. ^^

This last sunday we met a brother by the name of Brother Roman. He served a mission in 1978-1980. Eventually in his mission the peak they reached per month for baptisms was 350 or so. Give or take a few. What? Isn’t that insane? it was a huge spike. He said that if they felt the spirit then they were baptized. They were not under any rules or regulations for baptism so you could just get baptised if you felt good about their message. He was really inspiring and gave us a lot of advice. A lot of it we are starting to implement. We are using the Book of Mormon more which is drawing more people.

Today we went to kyongju. It is soooo coool! It is a famous city that we will for sure go to when we come back! There are Buddhist temples there and it is absolutely beautiful there. I will send pictures next week. Sorry I can’t this week. This computer is super old and we usually go to a Samsung store to send emails. It is soo amazing and beautiful. I can’t wait to send you pictures.

We have recieved a lot of contacts this week, which is super awesome!!! We are so happy and hopefully we will get more. We are working hard and hastening the work as much as possible. The Lord has watched over and has blessed us a ton this week!!! He has been everywhere with us and we can feel his angels surrounding us. I love being a missionary! It is seriously the best thing in the whole wide world!

Wow, can you believe it is my birthday soon?? In 2 days…April 2nd here I come! Wow, I can’t believe I will be the BIG 22. AAAHHH! So crazy. I don’t feel it though because everyone around me is younger. I feel like I am one of them. hahaha.

Here is the address. Sorry I haven’t sent it! This is our mission office address. I am not allowed to send my real address over email becuase of protection things. But this is where all mail goes.

Dongrae Post Office P.O. Box 73. Busan 607-600

I will be able to get mail from my district leader or when we have meetings. So, you all can send me anything and everything you want ahhah.

I am sooo excited for General Conferance in two weeks. Remember to have questions or concerns, etc and bring it to Conference. They will be answers.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!! It is so great being a missionary. I love it and cannot wait for what is next. Everday is an amazing and awesome day in the service of the Lord. He is always there for us and is ever so mindful of us. This gospel is true and the Book of Mormon is true. I know it with all my heart.

Love, Sister Orme
